Đàn Sến, an interesting Vietnamese traditional music instrument

Việt Nam has been proud of its diversified and rich treasure of traditional musical instruments.

These instruments have been being formed throughout the life journey and developed over the long founding and defending history of the nation.

Many instruments were brought into Việt Nam through different ways.

But later they were indigenized in line with musical languages and aesthetics of the nation.

Among those instruments is đàn sến, a plucked string instrument with two strings and a slender neck with raised frets.

A li shan de gu niang, a popular Chinese song is played with Đàn Sến

Derived from the Chinese qinqin   秦琴, it has been  locally created and imbued with indigenous identities.

Đàn sến has been used primarily in the traditional music of southern Việt Nam.
