A local company has announced plans to use amphibious aircrafts to take tourists from Hà Nội and Hồ Chí Minh City to popular tourism spots including Hạ Long Bay, the beach town of Phan Thiết and the Mekong Delta.
Starting in June, Thiên Minh Group will take tourists from Hà Nội to Hạ Long and from Hồ Chí Minh City to Phan Thiết and the Mekong Delta destinations of Cần Thơ, Long Xuyên and Châu Đốc on daily flights, Saigon Times Daily reported.
Thiên Minh purchased an 89 percent stake in the newly established private air carrier Hải Âu Airlines late last year in order to launch the services.
Trần Trọng Kiên, chairman and CEO of Thiên Minh, said Hà Nội – Hạ Long will be the main route, with a planned 8-12 flights per day.
Planes will fly from Hồ Chí Minh City to Phan Thiết, Cần Thơ, Long Xuyên and Châu Đốc each day.
The floatplanes will set off from Gia Lâm Airport in Hà Nội and Tân Sơn Nhấ International Airport in Hồ Chí Minh City, he said.
The airfares have not been revealed.
It will take around 25 minutes to fly from Hà Nội to Hạ Long, according to the company.
Tourists can book flights separately or as a group, with wach vessel holding a total of 12 passengers.
Kiên, the chairman and CEO, said the company has already received a lot of bookings, mostly from foreigners.
