Traditional craft village tourism festival held in Hà Nội

The 2013 traditional craft village tourism festival in Hà Nội and Red River Delta area opened at the Palace of Sports Apparel Horse in Hà Nội on October 8.

Present among guests were Hà Nội Party Committee Secretary Phạm Quang Nghị (pictured, far right) and leaders of the Hà Nội municipal People’s Committee and Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

At the opening ceremony, participants observed one minute’s silence in tribute to General Võ Nguyên Giáp’s passing.

Representatives of the Hà Nội Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism received Asian Record’s certificates for three specialties of the capital:

1/ Phở (noodle soup served with beef and chicken)

2/ Bún chả (rice noodles served with grilled pork), and

3/ Bún thang (rice noodle soup served with chicken, fried egg strands, lean meat pie strands and mushroom).

The Việt Nam Tourism Association launched an autumn-winter tourism campaign and gave a special art performance in praise of Hà Nội’s thousand-year-old civilization.

Nguyễn Thị Bích Ngọc, Vice Chairwoman of the Hà Nội municipal People’s Committee, said that the festival is part of activities in celebration of the 2013 National Tourism Year of the Red River Delta-Hải Phòng and the 59th anniversary of Hà Nội’s Liberation Day.

The festival has 300 stalls put up by 139 units representing 37 out of 52 groups of craft industry from 19 cities and provinces, the Việt Nam Craft Village Association, and the Việt Nam Tourism Association.

The space is divided into five areas:

Craft village exhibition, travel agencies, airlines, food, folk games, and entertainment.

The festival also includes a city tour programme as a special tourism product of Hà Nội.

It will last through to October 12.
