Wrap & Roll

Wrap & Roll, a chain from Vietnam, is slated to open its first Singapore offshoot at The Star Vista mall in Buona Vista tomorrow.

The restaurant is run by new food and beverage entrepreneurs, Mr Marcus Soo, 26, and Ms Jacinta Lee, 24, who are backed by their parents.

Both graduates from National University of Singapore’s Business School, the couple, who are dating, had worked in the corporate sector for less than a year.

They graduated last May and left their jobs earlier this year.

Mr Soo had worked as bank executive in enterprise banking, while Ms Lee was a management consultant.

Their 70-seat restaurant cost more than $400,000 to set up.

Ms Lee had chanced upon the six-year-old Vietnamese chain, which has 10 outlets in Vietnam and Australia, while holidaying in Ho Chi Minh City in December 2010.

She thought it would be a viable business opportunity here.

The eatery will serve various types of spring rolls, a savoury crepe or Bánh Xèo, grilled pork skewers and noodles, with prices ranging from $5.90 to $18.90.

Fresh herbs and vegetables from Vietnam will be flown in twice a week.

Other Vietnamese ingredients include rice paper, and sauces, which are manufactured by Wrap & Roll Vietnam.

The entrepreneurs are planning to open two outlets next year and have their eyes on Orchard Road for their next outlet.
